Firstly, to accelerate effectively, you should ensure the boat ispointing on the close reach with the main-sheet ease.This allows you to accelerate the boat most effectively without the boat slipping side-way.

Sheet in slowly at first,then progressively faster take the slack out of main-sheet and begin the acceleration.

Allow the boat heel to leeward and order to helm the boat to turn towards the wind and it accelerates.

 Finally，centralize the tiller, roll the boat flat and squeeze in the last bit of main-sheet, so the sail is adjusted to the close-haul course.
