About St Katharine Docks
The iconic St Katharine Docks is Central London’s only marina and has evolved into a thriving waterside community featuring modern and unusual office space, luxury homes and quayside dining and shopping.
A stone’s throw from the Tower of London, the historic site has a fascinating heritage. The Thomas Telford-designed dock was once one of the busiest ports in the UK, renowned for handling sugar, rum, spices, perfumes, marble, brandy, wines and tea. Over 10,000 visitors welcomed the arrival of the first ship - an East India Company trading vessel - to enter the docks on the official opening day on October 25, 1828. For the next 100 years St Katharine Docks enjoyed a roaring trade of these goods and was recognised as a focal point for the World’s greatest concentration of portable wealth.
While the site has retained its rich cultural heritage, with much of the original construction of the docks and buildings’ remaining today, St Katharine Docks has developed into a vibrant retail and leisure destination, where shoppers, diners, office workers and tourists enjoy the unique waterside environment, alongside boat owners and the yachting community.
An integral part of the docks renaissance is emergence of a premier office destination, with market leading companies attracted to the unique marina setting, excellent central London location, and great transport links. At lunchtimes and after work, office staff are able to take advantage of the retail and dining amenities on their doorstep, which enjoying the waterside ambience.
A recent programme of renovation has provided high quality, contemporary office space to meet the demands of modern-day business. St Katharine Docks is rapidly earning a reputation as a media and technology hub, with pioneering start-up hub Rainmaking Loft providing shared space for industry entrepreneurs.
St Katharine Docks is home to a range of award winning lifestyle brands including Tom’s Kitchen, Bravas Tapas, White Mulberries, CAU who provide an eclectic mix of niche shopping and dining experiences.
