Progressing from sixth in 2014 to a respectable fourth place in 2015, Oman Air will look to make further improvements this year with former Series Champion Morgan Larson at the helm. Larson returns to the Series having raced in 2013 and 2014 for Alinghi, winning the 2014 Series as co-skipper alongside Ernesto Bertarelli. Nasser Al Mashari joins the team as bowman, having sailed for the 2015 winning team The Wave, Muscat.

Laid-back Californian Morgan Larson will return to the Extreme Sailing Series in 2016, stepping on board Oman Air, a team Larson steered to second position in 2012. Larson has sailed in some big fleets and prestigious events in his long and successful career, not least in two America’s Cup teams. In 2014, he took the Extreme Sailing Series victory with Ernesto Bertarelli’s Alinghi, a moment Larson has admitted to be the biggest success of his sailing career.

Pete is an Extreme Sailing Series veteran having competed on the circuit since 2007, and winning the first-ever season onboard Basilica alongside his brother Rob. He first started sailing at the age of 14, starting in the 49er class and worked his was up to the America’s Cup. Last season Pete secured his third Series win with The Wave, Muscat (his fourth in total) alongside teammates Ed Smyth and Nasser Al Mashari.

Ed is a three-time America’s Cup sailor and has clocked up five Sydney-Hobart’s on his CV. He first started competing in the Extreme Sailing Series in 2011 and was part of the 2012, 2013 and 2015 Series winning crew with The Wave, Muscat.

Nasser Al Mashari is a former member of the Oman National Youth Swimming Team, and is now an experienced Extreme Sailing Series sailor. Nasser came up through the ranks of the Oman Sail programme and has competed on the Series since 2010.

24-year-old James Wierzbowski will be returning to the circuit in 2016 for his third season, swapping team shirts and joining Oman Air. James is well known on the Aussie sailing scene as a member of the Australian Olympic Sailing Programme. He also trains and competes in CrossFit, which he believes aids his fitness for sailing.
