Where is it happening?

Set in Marina Funchal, on the south coast of the island, the generally light to moderate winds will present a real challenge to the sailors, who will sail in the warm waters just off the coast of the island’s capital.

Where is the best place to watch?

Following a recent 300 million Euro regeneration project, Funchal will host the sixth Act of the 2016 Extreme Sailing Series™. Marina Funchal, located close to a host of museums, a theatre, a casino and a range of restaurants, will provide the stadium in which the fleet of hydro-foiling GC32s will battle it out.

Four days of action in the Extreme Sailing Series™’ newest venue of Madeira saw plenty of thrills, spills, one big collision and countless lead changes. By the time Act 6 came to an end 14 races had been sailed, with Swiss team Alinghi claiming victory despite being dismasted in a crash with Red Bull Sailing Team the previous day. 在比赛第三日的第三轮比赛起航时，红牛队猛地冲过起航线，但由于离得阿灵基队过近，其船尾横在了瑞士阿灵基队前面。而在两条急速行驶的GC32双面夹击影响下，阿灵基队的支索突然断裂，以至于16.5米高的碳纤维桅杆和帆缓缓地倒向一边，落入水中。

阿灵基队的赛船被拉倒岸上，为了能赶上最后的比赛日，岸队队员立即进入抢修状态。红牛队为此也受到了水上判罚，而在那轮比赛中仍以第三名冲线。

尽管阿灵基队遭受了意外，但他们仍位居榜首，紧随其后的是阿曼航空队和红牛队，分数相差并不大。
