Ichi Ban placed fourth on line and fourth overall and third in Division in the 2014 Sydney Gold Coast race. It underwent modifications ahead of the 2014 Hobart, improving the yacht’s overall performance, but finished eighth on line in a hot fleet, 63rd overall and 4th in Division O, when conditions helped the smaller yachts. Earlier last December, finished 3rd overall in the CYCA Trophy Series. YA President and past CYCA Commodore, Matt Allen, launched this Ichi Ban a month before the 2013 Sydney Hobart and sailed it to eighth online and eighth overall. It took line and overall honours in the 2014 Sydney Newcastle Race, a new rudder made the difference. Finished second on line in the 2015 Newcastle Bass Island Race after taking line honours in the inaugural race last October to create the race record. Took line honours, missing Wild Oats record by a little over an hour, and overall as well in November’s 180nm Cabbage Tree Island Race.
