路虎Bar学院团队成立于2014年6月10日，凯特王妃亲临下场祝贺。本团队由四次奥运冠军和34界美洲杯帆船赛的冠军Ben Ainslie爵士创办，目的是为了挑战英国的爱好帆船的年轻人致力于这项事业，并把开始于1851年的美洲杯捧回英国。

Land Rover BAR was launched on June 10th 2014 in the presence of the Duchess of Cambridge. The team was conceived by four times Olympic gold medalist and 34th America’s Cup winner, Sir Ben Ainslie, with the long-term aim of challenging for Britain and bringing the America’s Cup back home to where it all began in 1851. Ben will develop and lead a British entry capable of winning the prestigious trophy, something Britain has so far never managed to achieve.
It is a commercial sporting team, with a number of individual private investors alongside corporate partners. The team is made up of some of the best British and international sailors, designers, builders and racing support.

Bleddyn started sailing at a young age and became a World and European medallist in the 29er in his teenage years. He first competed on the Series in 2012 with The Wave, Muscat and most recently joined Land Rover BAR Academy in 2014. He has also competed in 49ers, 470s, Etchells and several IRC class boats.

The Series’ most successful skipper, Leigh McMillan secured his Series hat-trick in 2015 with The Wave, Muscat. Considered as one of the UK’s top multihull sailors, and having raced on the circuit since its early stages, McMillan announced his move to the British America’s Cup challenger, Land Rover BAR in 2015.

Ranked 2nd in the World in the 49er class in 2013, Ed Powys is a member of Team GB’s sailing team. Ed raced in the 2015 Extreme Sailing Series on board Oman Air, and for 2016 has switched to the only British entry in the fleet, Land Rover BAR Academy.

ACADEMY TRIALIST
Adam Kay is a young British sailor who holds experience in the Extreme Sailing Series having raced as bowman for Lino Sonego Team Italia at the first Act of the Series in Singapore, 2015. He’s also been a key member of both GAC Pindar and Land Rover’s shore crew in the Series. Adam has one National Championship title under his belt in the Tornado Class, 2013.

British Sailing Team 49er sailor James Peters is one of the four Land Rover BAR Academy trialists. Peters won the ISAF youth Worlds with team mate Ed FitzGerald in the 29er in 2008.

British Sailing Team sailor Neil Hunter was 49er British national champion in 2014 and 2015 as well as coming 36th at ISAF worlds 2014. Hunter is one of the four Land Rover BAR Academy trialists who could be selected by the team to race in the Extreme Sailing Series.

With a background in multihulls including the F18 and Nacras, Oli represented the UK at the 2015 ISAF World championships in the SL 16 catamaran. He also took part in the 2015 Red Bull Foiling Generation, fronted by Roman Hagara and Hans Peter Steinacher who are in a quest to find the sailing stars of the future across the globe.
